This year Tisha Be-Av (the ninth day of the Hebrew month, Av) corresponds to August 9. It commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples. In Jewish tradition, the date has become synonymous with mourning and tragedy. How can we relate this to the good news of the gospel? This Tisha B’Av is the 66th anniversary of the event that ended WW2. The A-bombing of Nagasaki showed we had more than one and were able and willing to use it. A Torah code search also returned 66 occurences of the date term [aleph,bet, vav, tav,shin,yod,aleph] as month/day/year.
