An atheist wrote on my video
“God deserves no credit for the 10 commandments. Apart from the first three, which are pretty pointless, the rest are just self evident laws that society needs if it is to continue existing. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that killing each other, stealing each others stuff and screwing the neighbour’s ass (or however that one goes) would not lead to a harmonious community.” -An Atheist
Here is my response to his absurd comment
Then you clearly don’t understand that without the first commandment, you have no reason to follow any of the others. If you reject God as the ultimate authority, then who has a right to tell you not to murder? Sure, it doesn’t take a genius to recognize what would harm society, but it would take more than a genius to justify why harming society is wrong if there is no ultimate standard of human behavior that is not ultimately arbitrarily defined by humanity itself. Humanity seeking humanities own best self-interests is not the issue, the issue is why should one human expect another human to seek humanities self-interests on a moral level, if morality itself is defined by humans who are seeking self-interest? Obviously anyone who disagreed with human-self interest would be deemed immoral according to that standard, but since that standard was erected by humans, it follows logically than any other group of humans has every right to erect an opposing standard (Nazis). It follows logically that any and all “morals” erected by humanity are not moral in of themselves, just as money has no value unless humanity assigns arbitrary values to paper and coin. Morality in such a worldview is a value assigned to certain behaviors, with absolutely no correlation between the value judgement and the reality of the act itself. Just as a diamond’s value has absolutely no correlation between the human who judges it as precious, and the universe which regards it as just a worthless stone.
If you are comfortable with that, then you are living proof of why the first commandment is so necessary!

That diamond analogy is very nice. I’m totally stealing it
I Totally agree, an atheist person who believes in social evolution and that our behaviours are only getting better through time is really lying to himself for at least three reasons in my mind:
1-Honesty with oneself:
You could be perfectly acceptable and productive in the atheist community and yet you are corrupt inside, you practice profanity, you lust, you envy, you hate other people. but nevertheless you haven’t hurt anyone, and you abide perfectly by the man made laws, so no matter how advanced and great human made laws seem they wouldn’t be able to change you from within, they wouldn’t be able to control your heart, they would never bring you high enough to love your neighbour as you love yourself or love your enemies, they wouldn’t give you any incentive on remaining pure in body and spirit, not any real incentive on helping the poor and donating to charities, even if you do it you could simply be doing it just to show off, and because of our sinful and evil nature, we would inadvertently find ourselves more and more worshiping money and power and what’s earthly because that’s the ultimate achievement speaking pure materialistic evolution, while alienating many people and hating each other and feeling void on the inside, nothing fills the empty spirit but the truth which is the word of God. that’s why very successful and rich people suffer depression, commit suicide, and they are not happy with their lives.
2-Social and moral evolution is an outright lie, the simple evidence is the increasing incidence of divorce, sexual decadence, crime and immorality in our society, sex before marriage and lust is perfectly acceptable these days, and we are considered idiots for even discussing the morality of those things, this wasn’t the case not long time ago, is that evolution?
3-Morality doesn’t change but people change, that’s why in a man made world what’s considered immoral yesterday might well be moral tomorrow simply because it’s convenient, seeks human comfort and apparently doesn’t hurt anyone (like abortion, sex before marriage, gay marriage etc…), while it’s nice to have some comfort but that doesn’t make it right or even evolutionary. the consequences are horrible not speaking purely in the eyes of God, but in the materialistic world as well, single mums, broken families, unloved children, etc…
Thank you Shawn, you are doing a great job.
